These two beauty creams are prepared to protect you from harmful sun rays but they work differently. Sunscreen is used to absorb harmful UV rays before they reach your skin.

Whereas sunblock is a product that makes a shield on your skin and literally blocks harmful UV rays.

Difference Between Sunscreen and Sunblock

Sunscreen consists of some active ingredients like oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate or octinoxate, which protect our skin by absorbing harmful UV rays before they hit your skin. Its application process is easy, and it doesn’t leave any white residue on the skin.

Sunblock consists of zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. It protects you from harmful UV rays by making a shield on your skin. It leaves a white cast on your skin. We apply sunscreen by thoroughly rubbing while you can simply spread sunblock on your skin.

Which is Better – Sunscreen or Sunblock?

Both sunscreen and sunblock have different-different pros and cons. Some prefer to apply sunscreen and others sunblock. After applying sunscreen, there is no white residue left on your skin, but sometimes its ingredients cause irritation. Sunblock can leave some white residue. So, before selecting any of them, do a patch test or contact a dermatologist.
