Tips to File Squoval Nails
If you want a combination of square and oval shapes on your nails, follow these steps.
Wash and Dry Your Hands
Before starting the process of nail shaping, wash your hands properly and dry them. Also, after washing, wait 3-4 minutes for filing to avoid damage.
Trim Your Nails to Squoval Shape
If your nails are not close to the squoval shape, trim them to achieve that. Take a clean sharp manicure scissor to cut all angular edges of your nails. You can also put an image of a squoval-shaped nail to take a reference.
File the Top Edge of Your Nails
File the top edge of nails, where the nail ends at the top of your finger. Pick a file and hold it between your thumb and index finger in an angular manner. Rub it in one direction 3-4 times for a squoval shape. Start the process with smooth hands to see your nail’s strength. If you feel any breakage, stop the process immediately.
File the Corner
Now use a file to round the corner of your nails. Once your free edge becomes flat, use a file and hole it at an angle of 45 degrees to round the corner.
Smooth the Meetup Point of Free-edge and Corner
With your file, soften the transition between the flat top and the rounded sides. After each stroke, check your work to avoid any mistakes.
Use Dust Brush
After proper shaping, it’s time to finish the look. Take a brush, remove nail dust and lift loose nail pieces (if any).
Buffer Your Nails and Apply Nail Paints
Buffer to achieve smooth surface of nails. Apply nail paint to make nails more attractive.
