Symptoms and Causes of Blackheads
Blackheads are the unwanted small bumps generated on the skin due to clogged follicles. These are named blackheads as their surface looks dark and black.
Causes of Blackheads
Blackheads appear on the skin when a clog or plug develops in the opening of hair follicles. Each pore in the skin consists of a space for hair and sebaceous glands that produce oil. This oil keeps your skin soft. Dead skin cells and the sebum collected in the pores produce a bump called a comedo. If the layer over the comedo stays closed, it is named a whitehead. Also, when the skin over the comedo opens and is exposed to air, blackheads form.
Some Factors That Increase Blackheads
- The buildup of propionibacterium acnes on the skin
- Not removing dead skin properly
- Hormonal imbalance
- Generating too much body oil
Symptoms of Blackheads
Blackheads spot easily due to their black colour. They are slightly raised not like pimples but appear as little bumps.
